Two Feet on the Table
The TWO FEET ON THE TABLE expedition is an expedition to reach the Geographic North Pole by foot this April. Members of the expedition are raising funds for for the Aqualung Trust, The Motor Neurone Disease Association, and The Naomi House Children’s Hospice.
The team will set out from Ice Station Barneo on April 13, 2009 to face average temperatures of -30 to -40 degrees Celcius, broken ice pressure ridges often many meters high, while pulling all their supplies by sled.
About the Name “Two Feet on the Table”
In days gone by, there was a custom amonst sailors that those who had rounded Cape Horn were entitled to put one foot on the table after dinner and those who had crossed the Arctic Circle were entitled to put both feet up!
