Join the Ice Axe Impact School as participants physical and intellectual limits are stretched hiking, snow camping, and skiing across the magnificent Sierra Nevada. Each day will begin and end with student journaling and reflection time aligned with personal goals for the trip. From our start point in the Eastern Sierra we will work our way west, crossing the Sierra Crest with skis, with a gradual descent into Sequoia National Park.
Along the way participants will learn about local ecology, narratives of the lands first people, as well as the history of regional settlement. Each person will take away leadership skills, outdoor survival skills, and come away with a deeper understanding of the past, present, and future of the Sierra. A course designed for life long learners with prior backcountry skiing experience, this course pairs world class ski touring with a bioregional educational component to foster a memorable, uniquely place based expeditionary experience.
